The Elatec TWN4 MultiTech 2 contactless reader is a flexible and intelligent desktop USB device that is capable of reading and writing a wide range of contactless, RFID and NFC, cards and tags operating at both 125KHz and 13.56MHz.

Part of the TWN4 family of devices, with a wide range of options, this standard version is capable of working with many low frequency tags, such as EM, HiTag and AWID, as well as the full range of high frequency technologies including MIFARE, PicoPass and FeliCa, according to the ISO 14443, ISO 15693 and ISO 18092 NFC standards.

The USB interface defaults to keyboard emulation (wedge) mode, but can be re-configured to support either standard CCID mode (for PC/SC operation) or as a virtual COM (serial) port, by installing different firmware. The TWN4 MultiTech 2 is therefore suited to many applications including on-demand printing, access control enrolment and kiosk operation, especially where compatibility with multiple card technologies is required.

In addition, the TWN4 MultiTech 2 can be enhanced through on-board programming, to enable custom applications, for example to enable specific data to be read securely from cards and returned down the keyboard or virtual serial port to a 'dumb' application or device. To support this, it also includes two on-board SAM slots for secure key storage or other uses, and a free SDK.
